Abstract:

In a dynamic and mobile world, the challenges of working with international data need to be understood and integrated into our data quality practices. Global media such as the internet feed international data into our systems, demanding a global outlook along with a local approach.

A key to managing global data is knowledge. Knowledge of local cultures allows for improved data input (such as through dynamic web forms), structures and processes.

Though the challenges are great, enormous data quality improvements can be achieved through the application of a relatively small amount of effort and financial outlay.

Think global ... and act global. This presentation outlines some of the most commonly faced challenges of working with global data and provides the opportunity to discover best practices for overcoming them.

He runs his own consultancy company, GRC Database Information, based in The Netherlands, where he researches postal code and addressing systems, collates international data, runs a busy postal link website and writes data management software.
