Making a Case for Data Quality
Earlier this year I wrote about how to get started with an Information Quality Initiative, laying out four steps that have proven to be successful many times:
- Pick a pertinent business problem to work on
- Devise a simple and straight forward approach
- Be a change agent
- Make it your Job
Once you’ve made some progress getting the Data Quality effort going on one or more of these fronts, you will get to the point where you’re asked to “make a case for data quality.” Making a case generally implies some sort of business case, i.e., justifying an ongoing Information Quality organization and program.
