Using Mind-maps in Information Quality Management

Way back in the mists of time, I wrote an article for the IAIDQ newsletter discussing the use of Kaplan and Norton’s Strategy Map concept to help “put information quality on the map” in a way that aligned with strategic goals.
While everything I wrote at that time is still correct and valuable, I’ve recently been thinking more about the need, especially in these pre-recovery times, for organizations to focus on ensuring alignment between their Purposes, their Policies, their Processes, their Actions, and the Outcomes they achieve.
Ultimately, the objective is to have the organization’s Outcomes match their Purposes. So if your Purpose is “To grow market share by 15%,” then your Outcome should match that, all other things being equal.
