Understanding Adult Learning and Assessing Training Effectiveness:
A Primer for Information Quality Change Leaders
Joy L. Medved and C. Lwanga Yonke
As stated by Larry English, the implementation of a successful and sustainable Information Quality (IQ) environment requires a new organizational culture; effective training is an essential component for building that new culture.
Conducting a successful training program requires more than just being a subject matter expert. In order to develop and deliver such a program, IQ leaders must become familiar with training best practices and must understand the specific characteristics of their audiences. Building on that April 2012 article by English, this article describes adult learning principles and presents a model to evaluate the effectiveness of training programs. It concludes with a summary of training best practices.
